When moving home you want to make sure all your possessions are in the safest of hands, you look for a reputable company who will safely move your goods. The phrase ‘actions speak louder than words’ springs to mind after an article in this week’s press.

A removals van proudly displaying the words ‘Safe Removals’ became lodged under a bridge after the driver misjudged the height of the bridge. The Brockley Railway Bridge in south-east London was struck by the van on Friday, leaving the driver a little red faced and a builder having to reverse the van out from underneath after the driver failed to do so.

As a leading van insurance broker Staveley Head often see articles on HGV’s and van’s getting stuck under bridges and would urge anyone unfamiliar with a vehicle, or checking out a new route to make sure they know the maximum height of the vehicle.

A witness at the scene spoke of a “game of trying to get out both forward and backwards but the van was stuck fast for a good hour.”

Adding:

“He was burning rubber on the road because it was wedged so tight and he'd ripped the top of the cab.”
