Motorists in Cardiff were held up this morning due to horses running loose on the westbound side of the A48 (M). Gwent police officers were called to the scene this morning at 06:01am in an attempt to capture the equine fugitives.

The seven horses were first spotted on the A48 Tredegar Park roundabout before they moved on to a nearby road linking to the M4 motorway. A rolling road block was set up to encourage the horses to move off the motorway and into a nearby field.

As a leading HGV and horse box insurance broker Staveley Head, not only spotted this article on horses disrupting traffic, it appears there was also disruption caused overnight on the M5.

The northbound carriageway of the M5 between Oldbury and West Bromich had fire crews in rather a sticky situation after a HGV spilled its load of over 200 litres of glue!

A spokesman from the West Midlands Fire Service said:

“Approximately 200 litres of glue and thinners covered 150 square metres of the highway.”

The carriageway was closed overnight whilst the spill was cleared up using sand provided by the highways agency.
