Eruption gives bus and train companies a boost

28 May 10

It has been reported an extra 9,000 passengers used Scotland’s bus networks throughout April due to the Icelandic volcano eruption. With Mega Bus transporting approximately 3,000 extra passengers and the National Express carrying an additional 6,000 on cross-border services. With the disruption still ongoing further increases in alternative methods of travel other than air are likely to rise.

Not only were Scotland’s roads seeing more buses First ScotRail and other cross-border services saw an additional 7,000 extra train travellers.

Perhaps you are considering becoming a bus driver and are wondering where to start?
You must have a full UK or EU driving licence before you can apply for a provisional licence known as a passenger carrying vehicle (PCV) driving licence for a coach or bus driver, you will also need to get a D4 medical form. Both of these forms can picked up from your local Post Office or from the DVLA.
