Traders Converting to Success

02 June 10

At Staveley Head we know that those in the Motor Trade are always looking for the best cars to sell on, but knowing which ones will be a success is not always that easy.

So what vehicles should Motor Traders look for?

Without doubt it is all about finding the best priced car that is great value for money. In the UK market it is convertible cars that show the least depreciation in their value and as summer fast approaching their demand is ever increasing.

Within the first few months of the year motor traders have been reporting that there has been a steady increase in the selling price of convertibles, with their values increasing from an average of £7,700 in January to nearly £10,300 in April. This is an approximate increase of £1,000 per month since the start of the year.

The car that has the lowest depreciation on the open UK market is the Mini hatchback which is estimated to retain 71 per cent of its original value after three years. With another six convertible cars also in the top ten they seem like a good investment if a trader can get their hands on them at the right price. However, if you are looking for something a bit more extraordinary then the Ferrari F430 Spider is the way to go, retaining up to 97 per cent of its original value.

Motor Traders have sold over 5000 second-hand convertible vehicles since January with a value of around £40 million, proving that they can be an asset to the used car market.

At Staveley Head, no matter what the depreciation value of your vehicles, we can offer a great range of Motor Trade Insurance policies. Contact our specialist road risks team now on 0845 017 9991 or compare motor trade insurance quotes online at www.staveleyhead.co.uk/motortrade/
