Motorbike seized by police in Wales

16 June 10

Police in Wales are continuing to clampdown on anyone caught using motorbikes unlawfully throughout Wales.

After liaising with park wardens and local councilors North Wales Police set up an operation to catch illegal off-road motorcyclists. Two known hot spots around Rhostyllen and Rhosllannerchrugog were targeted and saw one motorbike seized by officers.

Inspector Iwan Jones from the Wrexham South neighbourhood policing team commented:

“This shows the excellent working arrangements the police have in Wrexham with our local authority.”

The forces helicopter took to the skies in search of motorcyclists breaking the law and risking serious injury. With many offenders not wearing any safety wear and riding in such dangerous manors, the lives of the riders as well as the general public are being put at risk.

Ben Madeley a Rhostyllen Police Community Support Officer said:

“The way these motorbikes are being ridden in the local area is extremely dangerous without any consideration for the safety of the public or themselves.”

With the weather warming up many offenders may be tempted to get out and about on their motorbikes. However, police throughout Wales confirm this was not a one off the operation and they will continue to target offenders.

With Inspector Jones commenting:

“The operation had a direct impact on the safety of our road users and the quality of life of our community.“
