Chauffeur clamp down for prom night

With the end of year school and college proms taking place Staveley Head, a leading chauffeur insurance broker would warn parents or friends thinking of hiring limousines or other chauffeur driven vehicles to make suitable checks to make sure you are hiring from a reputable company.

Reported in the press, police officers based in Guilford clamped down on various vehicles being hired to chauffeur students to Kings College, the university of Surrey and Guildford County School.

The crackdown took place on prom days after information received by police and borough council licensing officers last year led them to believe some vehicles may not be road worthy.

PC Matt Redfern said:

“The purpose of this operation was to ensure customers are being carried safely, that they are insured and that the operators are running their businesses within the law.”

He also stressed that if drivers are caught without the appropriate documentation they are liable to be fined, summoned to court and have their vehicles seized.

During this year’s spot check of vehicles, 32 limousines were assessed issuing 2 drivers with summons for not having the correct insurance with a number of delayed prohibition notices also issued. Further use of these vehicles is prohibited until the faults have been rectified.

Staveley Head is a leading provider of Chauffeur Insurance in the UK.
