As a leading home insurance broker based in North Wales, Staveley Head experienced some of the severe weather conditions that hit yesterday afternoon.
Warnings of flash flooding were issued yesterday and many parts of the country experienced the treacherous conditions. North Wales Fire and Rescue Services received more than 30 calls reporting flooding mainly in the Wrexham, Llay and Johnstown area.
Paul Fairclough, operational manager with Wrexham's Streetscene section commented on the situation saying:
“Environment staff and equipment have been deployed to deal with the flooding reports as they have been received.”
Merseyside was also hit pretty badly with many residents fearing for their homes and roads grinding to a standstill due to the torrential downpours. A number of main roads in Liverpool were closed and schools across the city were forced to send children home early. Motorists on the Wirral were also urged to avoid Bromborough Rake due to flooding causing havoc there.
Susan Folksman, of Churchdown Grove Dovecot told the Wirral News how she had lost everything due to flooding two years ago and not having insurance. She spoke of her concerns of flooding again this year saying:
“It has flooded yet again this year – people have had to park their cars across the road to stop motorists coming down here, because every time a car goes past the water comes into our houses in waves.
“I am absolutely petrified of it raining any more.”
Staveley Head would advise people without home insurance to call for a competitive quote and those who have got insurance to check it does cover for such circumstances.
