Europe’s Top Caravan Holidays 2017

In 2016 we looked at the top caravan sites Europe had to offer. Once again we have taken to the internet to bring you the best destinations to visit in your caravan for 2017.

As providers of caravan insurance we know that nothing really beats being able to pack up the caravan and heading out to explore. So now is the time to take to the road and create new experiences and adventures in 2017.

Freiburg, Germany

The picturesque town of Freiburg sits nestled amongst the sunny slopes of the Black Forest, enjoying 2000 hours of sunshine a year; this is Germany’s warmest city.

There are plenty of sites to see in this charming town, from the stunning Freiburg Minster, which dominates the skyline to Rathausplatz, Freiburg’s prettiest square, where you can relax and watch the world go by outside one of the shaded cafes.

There’s also a lot to see and do in Freiburg’s beautiful surroundings. Just a short drive south of the town you’ll come across the Todtnauer Wasserfall. The 97m waterfall tumbles down over sheer rock faces bringing the surrounding hillsides to life. There are also plenty of hiking trails around Freiburg with some spectacular views.

With a variety of campsites catering for all ages in the surrounding area, Freiburg makes an excellent caravan holiday destination.

Lake Garda, Italy

Lake Garda’s stunning backdrop makes it the ideal location for a touring holiday. Surrounded by hills and mountains, Italy’s largest Lake is home to plenty of beaches for you to relax and take it all in. It’s not only the amazing scenery that draws tourists to the area though. Lake Garda boasts some impressive history and of course, fantastic Italian cuisine.

Park your caravan up at one of the many camping spots surrounding the lake and enjoy the amazing sights in this beautiful corner of Italy.

Tour Luxembourg in your caravan and you’ll feel like you’ve entered into a fairytale as you drive through quaint and enchanting villages overlooked by striking medieval castles.

Luxembourg City is one of Europe’s most scenic capitals based on the gorges of the Alzette and Pétrusse. The Unesco-listed Old-Town boasts some brilliant museums and fabulous dining with no more than 11 restaurants awarded a Michelin Star.

Take a walk along the famous Chemin de la Corniche, described as Europe’s most beautiful balcony, as it winds its way over the 17th-century ramparts or work your way through Mudam, a fantastic modern art museum in the north-east of the city.

Oslo, Norway

Ringed by hills and forests and right on the stunning Oslofjord, the Norwegian capital is a hidden gem for caravan holidays.  When camping in Norway you’re guaranteed fresh air, beautiful sights and plenty of adventure. There’s a reason why it has been voted the happiest country in the world for 2017.

There’s plenty to keep you entertained in Oslo, from the Viking Ship Museum to the beautiful Botanical Garden and lots of great bars, cafes and restaurants to choose from.

One of the city’s main attractions is its proximity to nature, with plenty of green spaces and parks, and opportunities for hiking, biking and boating nearby. So just park up your motorhome or caravan at one of the many camping spots nearby and explore the beautiful surroundings.
