Overview

Fleet Insurance

For many businesses, it can be cheaper to have numerous vehicles and machinery under a single policy – saving both time and money.

We can find all levels of fleet insurance cover, including comprehensive, third-party, fire and theft, as well as laid up cover and a mix of each one.

What Is Fleet Insurance?

Fleet insurance is a simple way to insure two or more motor vehicles under one policy for a company.

There are no restrictions to the type of business which can have a fleet policy, but the most common industries that require it include haulage companies and taxi firms.

While taxi companies operating with less than three vehicles can qualify for taxi insurance, businesses with vehicles exceeding this amount may find insuring their cabs as a fleet to be much cheaper.

On the other hand, haulage companies often opt for fleet policies instead of standard HGV insurance because they need to insure multiple types of vehicles, such as plant machinery, alongside their lorries.

What Can I Use My Vehicles For?

The type of cover you need can differ depending on the policy requirements of your business.

We can offer cover for the following:

  • Social Domestic & Pleasure use
  • Carriage of goods for Hire and Reward
  • Carriage of own goods

What Type of Vehicles Can I Insure in My Fleet?

Our fleet policies cater for differing vehicle types, and some will even allow for the addition of a small plant.

The most common vehicles we provide fleet insurance for include:

  • Private hire cars
  • Public hire vehicles
  • Heavy goods vehicles (HGV)

We can provide fleet insurance for almost any type of vehicle. Call us on 0800 0815 027 to speak to a team member and see if you can find an option to suit your requirements.

What Extras Can I Get With Fleet Insurance?

You can select any of the following optional covers in addition to your fleet insurance or on their own:

Breakdown Cover

Our insurers can offer a range of covers to get you back on the road at the scene of your breakdown.

Excess Protection

This cover allows you to request back your excess on a claim for damage, theft or attempted theft and fire. You can claim back your policy excess on a claim where you’re at fault or if the other party can’t be identified.

Liability Insurance

A liability insurance policy is essential to avoid the possibility of putting your business in jeopardy. We understand this necessity and work with the nation’s leading insurers to provide the perfect policy for your business.

How Much Does Fleet Insurance Cost?

Whether you’re expanding your taxi company to include multiple cabs or if you run a haulage company, fleet insurance is a necessity – which is why we make sure the process is simple so that you can make the right choice.

Your Policy Unpacked

What Coverage Do You Need?

Your coverage will vary depending on your policy needs. Here are just some of the many options available from our insurers:

What we can cover you for:

  • Legal responsibility for injuries or deaths to a third party.

  • Reimbursement for loss or harm due to fire, lightning, explosion, theft, or attempted theft.

  • Coverage for trips outside of the UK within the EU, EEA, and Schengen areas.

  • Depending on your policy, provision of a substitute vehicle in the event of an accident.

What’s not included:

  • Theft if your vehicle has been left unlocked, unattended, and insecure.

  • Gradual deterioration due to regular usage or insufficient maintenance.

  • Individuals operating your vehicle without a valid driving licence or those disqualified from driving.

  • Accidents involving the named driver or any authorised person under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Some insurers will have a list of vehicles and transport they do not cover under their fleet insurance policies. These types of vehicles are usually smaller, such as motorbikes or forklifts.

The vehicles must be registered with the company owner. In the case of a limited company, the vehicle must be registered with the company itself.

Most fleet policies are arranged on an ‘any authorised driver’ basis, meaning anyone can drive with the company’s or directors’ permission.

However, fleet insurance policies can be tailored to individual needs. Each one will have its own driver criteria and terms, which should be checked carefully to ensure all drivers are legally covered.
