Summer is approaching and there’s nothing better than taking to the great outdoors to enjoy the sunshine amongst lovely company. As providers of motorhome and caravan insurance we get this.

That’s why we created our UK Campsite Finder and that’s also why we teamed up with Park Holidays UK for our #CampingMemories competition - giving you the chance to win a super camping holiday.

Now 150 funny camping stories later we thought it only right to share them with you. Here are some of our favourite entries:

Come Rain or Shine

As you’re probably aware the UK isn’t known for its sunny weather but you’re always hopeful. Putting up tents whatever the weather and hoping for the best.

My favourite camping memory is waking up in the tent it had been raining all night and the tent was flooded, we were wet the sleeping bags were wet we were completely flooded lol ,so funny, #CampingMemories

We managed to save for a trailer tent. However on our first holiday in it we got totally flooded out. Even though it's only a 6 berth the amount of people in there with brushes and buckets helping us. What a great community the camping crowd really are. Many happy memories

Moving to sleep in the car as our tent filled with water in a torrential down pour. We were wet for the whole weekend as we had had to put the tent up in the rain and take it down in the rain!! My 5 year old still says the whole thing was brilliant as she got to splash in lots of puddles and slept soundly through it all.

Camping Overseas

It’s not just in the UK you like to camp but overseas too. From France to the USA you love to travel.

I have lots of camping memories from childhood, not with family but the guides. I went on a 10 day camp and we were joined by other girls from Canada and France. I ended up being told off for talking with a Canadian accent as they thought i was making fun of them but I happen to have the ability to change my accent with whomever I spend a lot if time with lol. They still didn't believe me.

Time with Family & Friends

Sometimes it doesn’t matter where you are it’s who you’re with that makes all the difference.

Precious Memories

Some memories last a lifetime and we loved seeing these throwback pictures from camping past.

The Animals

From the people to the animals – you’re at one with nature yet it’s still a shock when you come face to face with a sheep, cow or bear!

#CampingMemories My fave camping memory is when my band were playing a gig in New York and we drove all the way from Detroit (where the guys are based). We parked and camped in some woods and were chased by some bears, having never seen a bear up close before, I was petrified. My american friends were a little more relaxed..thankfully we didn't get eaten!

My best memories camping were when my husband and I met and before children, we didn't have a lot of money back then and so our tent was rather small, however we pitched up at camber sands in a field unbeknown to us the fence separating the sheep had broken and with heavy rainfall that night when we woke soaked and cold we had about 10 sheep around us lol , ermmm morning I said haha and hid under the blankets, here's a pic of our worse for wear tent after the nights rainfall #CampingMemories

The Winner

There have been so many fantastic entries it was a hard to choose just one but this one from Matt Gibson had it all.
