Your fleet insurance questions answered
What is Fleet Insurance?
Fleet insurance is a simple way to insure a number of motor vehicles under one policy.
What type of vehicles can I include?
We can provide fleet insurance for almost any type of vehicle. So give us a call and see if you can find an option to suit your requirements.
What different levels of Fleet Insurance are available?
We can offer all levels of cover including fully comprehensive, third party fire and theft, third party only, laid up and any mix of these.
What will a Fleet Insurance cover me to use my vehicles for?
Cover can differ depending on your policy needs which will be disclosed at quotation.
We can offer cover for:
- Social Domestic & Pleasure use
- Carriage of goods for Hire and Reward
- Carriage of own goods
How many vehicles do I need to qualify?
For a Fleet Insurance policy there must be a minimum of three plus vehicles but there’s no maximum.
Who do the vehicles have to be registered to?
The vehicles must be registered to the company owner or, in the case of a limited company, to the company itself.
Can I cover young drivers?
Yes, we can provide Fleet Insurance cover for younger drivers. But do remember that premiums can be significantly higher for drivers aged under 25.
If I operate more than one type of vehicle, do I need more than one Fleet Policy?
No, our fleet policies cater for differing vehicle types, from private car to HGV -some will even allow for the addition of small plant.
Who can drive the vehicles?
Policies can be tailored to individual needs. Each policy will have its own driver criteria and terms which should be checked carefully ensuring all drivers are legally covered.
The standard driver criteria would be: ‘any authorised driver 25 and over, up to 69 with 2 years relative and consecutive driving licence and 3 years consecutive residency’.
Do you offer family insurance policies?
No. As a commercial motor insurance specialist, we can only provide fleet insurance quotes for business or commercial use.
Am I covered to drive other vehicles?
Unfortunately you will not have a ‘drive other vehicles’ extension on your insurance – cover will only be for advised and confirmed vehicles.
What about private/public hire vehicles and taxis?
Yes, we can provide quotes for private/public hire sectors.
Will I get a no claims bonus on a Fleet Insurance policy?
No, you will accrue a Fleet Claims Experience (also known as a CCE or Confirmed Claims Experience). It is a record of vehicle numbers and claims amounts.
