Travelling to new places is exciting, but it can also be frustrating. You find yourself lost and driving down one way streets, and that’s with a sat nav that seems to have taken you to the wrong place!

Sound familiar? Well, here are some apps to help you avoid these annoyances and stay constantly connected.

RAC Traffic

RAC TRAFFIC

This RAC traffic app provides updates, news, planners and much more. Your journey will be smooth from the start allowing you to view any delays so that you don’t get held up. The app has a handy zoom feature so viewing on a Smartphone is simple.

The route planner makes life even easier. Just type in your destination and choose which journey best suits you whilst also checking for live traffic updates as you go. Easy.

PetrolPrices.com for iphone

PETROL PRICES

So you’re half way through your journey and the petrol light comes on! What do you do, panic and frantically read every sign hoping for a signal to the nearest petrol station?

Not anymore. With the PetrolPrices.com app for iphone and ipad (or Petrol prices pro for android) it is much easier. Choose your location to compare and locate the station of your convenience.

Or if you are brand loyal, Esso and Shell have their own apps locating only their garages.

Travelling abroad and interested to see how petrol prices compare globally the petrol price index will be a useful tool for you, click here.

AA Parking

AA PARKING

When you arrive at your destination don’t get stuck going around in circles searching for a place to park. Use the AA parking app and be parked in minutes. The app will not just find the closest car park to you but also the cheapest and it will provide you with real-time parking updates. No more will you be asking strangers for directions to the nearest car park, but you will find them for yourself.

Food service apps

Never leave yourself stuck with no where to eat. There are several food service apps, some for restaurant bookings, takeaways, fast food locators and even a McDonalds app! But some of the most popular apps are Restaurant Guide, Urbanspoon (great reviews) and OpenTableUK. So when you get to your destination you won’t be stuck for places to eat.

Airbnb app

AIRBNB

Decided to be spontaneous and stay overnight?  Airbnb is growing increasingly popular in the UK and the concept is brilliant; explore, book, go. It’s as simple as that and with the app you can do this on the go, so even if you don’t plan you will be fine.

Find my car

FIND CAR

It is amazing how many times we forget where we have left the car! So the find my car app is a welcome feature using GPS you can locate the position of your car or even your hotel. You can even get directions so you don’t get lost.

Motorway Buddy

MOTORWAY BUDDY

This app for haulage companies and truck drivers is the first of its kind. For drivers the app locates overnight truck stops with real time prices and availability. Drivers can check reviews from other drivers, making their decision of where to stay easier. And that’s not all; drivers also have the option to pay through their mobile so they won’t be out-of-pocket.

For haulage companies incidents are reported in real time with digital driver checklists which automatically upload to audit compliance. Plus expenses are made simpler with the app allowing digital transactions.

If you have a favourite app when driving let us know, we will be waiting on Facebook so join the conversation.
