Hollywood loves a good chauffeur in reality and on screen. They ooze style and sophistication and represent the luxury lifestyle brilliantly. Chauffeurs have been used on camera for decades from action packed thrillers to comedies for the whole family. The nation loves a good chauffeur.

Chauffeurs In The Movies

But what are the best chauffeur movies? Well, here’s some of the most memorable;

Driving Miss Daisy

This is perhaps one of the most famous chauffeur movies. Morgan Freeman plays a classic chauffeur role as Hoke Colburn to the upper class widow Miss Daisy. Set in Southern America during the 1960’s the movie challenged social convention with its heart warming story line and went on to win 4 Academy Awards.

Princess Diaries

The film all young girls of the noughties loved. Princess Diaries had everything romance, friendship, Anne Hathaway, makeovers and a chauffeur! Hector Elizondo played a memorable role in this family favourite as the Princess’ wise chauffeur Joe. Joe is everything a chauffeur should be although he does talk a lot.

Die Hard

Forget everything you thought you knew about chauffeurs and meet Argyles. This chauffeur is stylish and cool. Driving John McClane to the Plaza, Argyles is a little nervous but that doesn’t stop him from driving at a hundred miles an hour and crashing into ambulances! Well, what else would you expect from Die Hard?

My Chauffeur

This classic 1980’s film challenges the status quo with a female chauffeur who can drive! Deborah Foreman plays Casey Meadows, a feisty limousine driver. At first her job gets off to a rocky start but once she’s dealt with the difficult customers she becomes one of the best chauffeurs in the business.

Dumb & Dumber

A memorable chauffeur role although perhaps for the wrong reasons! Played by Jim Carrey this is a chauffeur you would not want driving you to the airport. He’s not like any chauffeur you’ve seen before; lazy, careless and slightly crazy.
