Frequently asked questions about travel insurance
I haven’t booked my trip yet; can I still buy my insurance?
Yes, you can set your cover to start whenever you like. With pre-existing medical conditions, it’s often best to ensure you can get sufficient travel insurance before booking your trip.
I have a European Health Insurance Card. Do I still need travel insurance?
Yes. Whilst an EHIC card will ensure you receive the same level of treatment as a citizen of the country you’re in, it doesn’t cover you for things like cancellation or delay and it won’t provide repatriation cover if you need to return to the UK.
What if there are changes to my health after I’ve purchased my cover?
If there are any changes to the health of you or family members you must tell us before taking any future trips.
What happens if my travel provider goes out of business?
As optional cover, this can be added for the failure of a travel provider, where there’s no other protection already in place, however, this comes as standard on all gold policies.
Will my policy cover pre-existing conditions?
Our travel insurance will consider covering all pre-existing conditions providing you notify us when taking out the policy.
Can I set my annual insurance to start the day before my first trip?
Annual multi-trip policies can start as soon as a trip is booked as this ensures cover for loss of deposit and cancellation charges.
What documents do I need to take on holiday with me?
We recommend you take your travel insurance certificate and the relevant policy wording booklet in case you need to make a claim.
Can I get immediate cover?
Absolutely. Your travel insurance can start as soon as you want it to but to ensure you’re protected against cancellation and pre-trip illness, cover can be arranged as soon as your trip is booked.
Will my policy cover me on a cruise?
Yes, we can provide you with specific cruise travel insurance.
Will my policy cover pre-existing conditions?
Yes, but you must tell us about them during the quote process.
Does my policy cover winter sports?
We can include cover for winter sports as part of your travel insurance policy, although there may be a small additional charge to do so.
