As personal vehicle insurance specialists, we understand that accidents can happen at any time, that’s why it is so important to be prepared and have a good understanding of what to do if you have been involved in an incident in your motorhome.
By taking the right steps you’ll be able to avoid making a bad situation worse and make sure that your insurance claim goes smoothly.
COLLECTING DETAILS AFTER AN ACCIDENT
Understandably being involved in an accident is not a pleasant experience, but it’s important that you stay as calm as possible and gather as much information as you can about the other party/parties. This includes:
- full names
- contact telephone numbers, address and age of the driver and any passengers
- insurance details (including the policy number)
- car make, model and registration
You should also make note of:
- location
- time and date
- how the accident occurred
- damage to vehicles and any injuries
- weather conditions
- traffic conditions
- road markings, signs and signals
- witness details
If possible take photos immediately after the incident to help you remember details and to use as evidence should you need it.
If you feel you have been a victim of foul play (crash for cash) or if the other driver is uninsured or drives off you should inform the police and your insurer.
